Wonderful lamps

It´s been ages (literally) since my last post (I'm rotten to the core now aint I?). My sincere apologies for crappy updates and this time a real promise to pop in more frequently :)

The lamp above is a huge favorite of mine. I hope to get two of these for the living room. What do you think, aren't they just fabulous? The color scheme of my living room would be quite natural (brown, white, taupe, grey and black with a few accents in red, white and blue. I'd love to hear your opinions.

While the constant fall of snow seems never to seize and warmer times seems an eternity ahead, you can often find yourself dreaming away. For the moment my dream would be to experience spring in Boston, while staying at Clink, an old jail transformed into a luxury hotel. Don't you think the entrance looks magnificent? I'd love to stay there, if only for a few nights. They've kept certain features from the time when it was a jail, which I find only makes the place even more interesting.

Each season I eagerly await the new collection from Ralph Lauren Home and I have yet to be disappointed. The pictures above show two of my favourites this spring. Approaching warmer seasons I'm drawn to the cool colors of the sea and the sky. I never get tired of the blue and white combo and I love the new rustic look mixing patterns in blues, whites and reds.

I know it's been an eternity since I last put up a new post, but now I'm finally back. Due to problems with my Internet connection and some lack of inspiration I decided to let my blog rest for almost three months. Now, however I'm filled with inspiration and with my new Internet connection I expect less problems than before.

Here in Sweden the snow has been overwhelming this winter, hence it feels fantastic to be inspired by all the new spring collections from Lexington, Riviera Maison, Restoration Hardware, Ralph Lauren, Gant and the likes.

Maisons du Monde has been one of my favourites for a long time and I recently discovered that they had updated their homepage with several wonderful news. With christmas just a few weeks away, I.m now more than ever browsing for inspiration for the upcoming holiday. I like the earthy yet cozy tones of the pictures above and think they would suit my home perfectly. Do you have any thoughts yet on how you will decorate this year, any theme or color scheme? I'm thinking of decorating my christmas tree in glass and silver this year, but I'm not quite sure yet. Do you think it will look too cold? I want the tree to look inviting but with a fresh color scheme. I've also thought about including some elements of taupe.Which idea do you like best?

Due to my long absence I decided to make several posts today. One of my favourite stores (please change your shipping destinations to include Sweden) is Maisons du Monde. I love their affordable yet stylish furniture and there are many things I'd love to get my hands on... The things above are just a few of the highlights from their collection. Living with a cold sore

Please forgive my absence the last week. I got a cold sore about a week ago and shallow as I am (apparently) it made me a bit depressed. Nothing seemed to cheer me up, not even some glossy new magazines made the trick, I just went home after work and basically went to bed. It's silly, I know, but I guess the self confidence isn't what it should be. Finally I can see signs of healing, so I guess I don't have to worry too much about becoming an agoraphobic ;).

I got a beautiful present from my beloved boyfriend for my birthday, which I hoped to show you. Unfortunately I need new batteries for my camera again (the last ones I bought were said to last longer than other kinds, which apparently meant 1,5 days), but as soon as I get them I promise to show you. In the meantime these pictures will have to do.

It's been a while since my last confession, or wait a minute I mean post. In my defence I've celebrated my birthday a few days in advance. As you might have noticed from previous posts I have a thing for cozy cottages, especially the closer to winter it gets. I guess I have fallen for the image of a snug timber house in the woods, you know the one you see in christmas movies with families in front of a roaring fire and a christmas tree while the snow is falling outside. A bit romanticized I admit, but I still dream of going to the austrian alps during the christmas holidays to experience something similar.

It might seem early to some, but my focus is already shifting from the lazy days of summer to.... Halloween. Sure, I enjoy the long bright days of summer, but when the vacation is over and you go back to work it feels good in some way to see a change in the season as well. Darker nights where you can light up candles and of course after a while you can begin the preparations for the holidays to come. I love christmas but in september it feels like an awful long wait until then, which has to be the reason I'm already gathering inspiration for Halloween. I really like the colors and quite honestly why don't we use pumpkins in the decor more often, they're lovely.

I found these beautiful pictures at New England Home. The old rustic cabin and the warm colors appeal to me even more when the summer is about to end and colder seasons are approaching. The view is lovely and interior cozy, the perfect combination for those cold and dark winter days.

I've had the best of awakenings this morning, breakfast in bed with my sweetheart while discovering... guess what? One of my favourite stores, Riviera Maison, has opened a webshop and finally they offer delivery to Sweden! Some of the items may be in the upper end of my budget, but even if I can't make the purchases right away, I'm sure I'll be able save up for the things I want the most. The items above are just a few of the things I could imagine in my home. What do you think, aren't they gorgeous?

As promised, here comes the second batch of images from the never ending source of inspiration, Restoration Hardware. I think they've managed to find a good balance in the decor, it looks great without feeling too over worked. The colors, textures, scale everything is very much to my liking. I find Swedes in general a bit too held back when it comes to decorating their homes. This suits me much better with a special theme, a bit of drama or interesting pieces the home becomes more unique and magical.

Like many others I've found that this season's collection at Restoration Hardware has hit a soft spot. It's rapidly become my favourite source of inspiration and I'm only onlu discouraged about one thing, like many other fantastic companies they don't ship to Europe. I agree some of the things aren't the cheapest on the market, but I would've been prepared to save up. My guess is that use one of my favourite suppliers, Eichholtz, a company I've made posts about before. I think I can recognize the fantastic lighting...

Another favourite would have to be the framed destination blinds. If you've read my previous posts, you know that I've been wanting these for some time.

I love the pictures so much, I'll make several posts on the collection just to show you what I'm missing out on. Did you get the bitter tone? I thought so...

Scotland

After a few days in Scotland (Edinburgh) we're back at home again. We had a wonderful trip and I fell absolutely head over heels in love with this wonderful place. The surroundings are beautiful with green mountains and castles and the city centre is really picturesque. The gothic feel of the architecture, the people and the charming dialect... if I could I wouldn't hesitate to give up my life in Sweden to go live there instead. This is without a doubt a place I´ll visit as many times as I can in the future. Who knows, maybe next time I'll be able to persuade my boyfriend to wear a kilt :).

Just before the trip I went through all the cabinets at home and finally found my long lost camera (yippie!). During our stay in Edinburgh we went to the Edge Festival to see our favourites, Faith no More. It was a night to remember, they were absolutely great and I can't describe it as anything less than fantastic. Good music and fantastic entertainment (the only minus would be the heat which was horrible).

My guy went away on a business trip yesterday morning and will not be back until late thursday evening. I know it's only been a day but I'm already missing him terribly. I don't feel comfortable sleeping in the bed alone and stay awake most part of the night. Obviously the sleep deprivation makes me more tired and dizzy than usual, which I over compensate with tons of sweets and junk food. I've decided to really try to pull myself together and drag myself to the gym next week AND stop eating sweets from every day of the week... Ambitious I know, but I'll give it a go, hopfully for more than just one day.

I'm a big fan of loft apartments, so I thought i'd show you this beautiful home feautered in Marie Claire Maison. I love the raw stone walls and the industrial elements of the decoration. What do you think?

For a few days now I've been looking for my camera. Someone must have eaten it because it's totally lost. I've practically torn the place apart looking for it, but I can't find it. So I decided to show you some old pictures taken by this vanished camera when me and my boyfriend went to London last christmas. It was magical, I can recommend anyone who has ever thought of going there to do so, especially around christmas. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and the boutiques have lots to offer.

From time to time I find new things I fall in love with (materialist as I am). My most recent obsession? Destination blinds. I think they're absolutely gorgeous and in my fantasies I decorate my home with numerous framed destination blinds. They look good everywhere with the white letters against the black background and I find that the impact is just as great as that of a big piece of furniture. For the moment they're a bit out of my price range but whenever I have a little money to spend you can bet this is what I'll spend it on. Many blinds are over 15 metres in length so I'd probably cut it up into smaller pieces and frame them separately. That's what I call value for your money.

The weather changes rapidly and the last few days the sun has been up constantly and I find the heat a bit overwhelming. So, instead of being outside enjoying the last days of summer I stay indoors. I really hope the heat will cool down a bit next week, otherwise I'm afraid my brain will fry.

It's been a wonderfully childish day at one of Sweden's theme parks. I have to say when ordinary life becomes full of chores and musts it feels good to just get away sometimes and do something really childish. With one day left of the weekend we'll see what's in store for tomorrow. Hope you all have had a wonderful weekend so far and that tomorrow will be even better.

When I was younger I used to sail every summer with my parents and dreamt about having a boat as my home. I guess some part of me still want it, because every time I see pictures from a home resembling the interior of a boat I fall in love with it. Can anyone recommend a good psychologist? :)

I like the rustic feel of this belgian home, infused by the old double doors. While keeping the colors earthy and harmonic the doors really become the obvious focal point of the room. This New England dream was recently featured in Architectural Digest. Once again I fall for the harmonic and natural colors and the contrast between the white and the dark wood. I really like the lighting in the living room and kitchen and only wish there were more dealers of similar lighting in Sweden.

In an attempt to make the most of my last days on vacation, I'll be taking my boyfriend to a Swedish amusement park. Despite the horror of some rides there's something that still keeps you going back for more and that something is what I'm looking for today.

Just one week left of my vacation but for some reason it feels like it should have been a month... Anyhow, I guess I'll just have to make the most of the time left, such as working on my blog :)

The colors in my home are mostly naural and that appeals to me in general. The same can be said about my kitchen, which is in white and champaigne teamed with an oak floor. However certain dashes of color can be beautiful, no matter if it is the fabric of the curtains or rug, flowers, paintings or cabinets. For the moment red and blue are my favourite colors.What do you think?

Back from vacation

After some well deserved vacation, I'm back home again. Together with my boyfriend, I've been to a few music festivals (Peace & Love in Borlänge Sweden and Roskilde in Denmark), both times with the main objective to see Faith no More. I can recommend anyone who likes their music to get tickets to one of their shows immediately, they were absolutely amazing and gave quite a show. After our visit to Denmark we managed to squeeze in a visit to my parents in law and a trip to Gothenburg (Göteborg).

I'm happy to see that the number of foreign visitors on this blog are increasing, I welcome you all. I've therefore chosen to shift the written language to english so that more people are able to understand the contributions to the blog.

I'm still having problems with my digital camera, it keeps insisting that the batteries needs reloading (even if they are new) :( This means that you'll have to wait a while for pictures taken of our home. It still looks quite empty, though. Since we moved in here I decided I wouldn't put up any things I didn't like and I've promised myself not to buy anything unless I really want it. In the meantime I'd like to show you room by room how I intend to decorate them. You are all very welcome to make suggestions if you have an idea you think would suit me.

Below you'll see a collection of pictures presenting various items I wish to acquire for the livingroom:

There are three large windows in the room, all situated on the same wall. In the window in the middle I'd like to use a box such as this one as a flower pot, in which I can grow an olive tree or maybe an orange tree.

In the other two windows I´d like some stylish lamps, such as this one. Since the room is very bright I'd like the lamp shades to be darker to contrast and make the room cosier.

I like this cabinet made of bamboo in which I could store our huge film collection (all films are still kept in moving boxes waiting for appropriate storage). In my dreams I would also get two old leather suitcases of different sizes to put on top of the cabinet. I think it gives a room such a romantic feel.

I love Maisons du Monde and this huge wall clock (1 m in diameter) is a favourite. We've actually already bought this one and I can assure you that it looks just as faboulous in real life. Neither of us are handy, so it lays on the floor at the moment until we get some assistance and can mount it on the wall.

Theese are the ceiling lamps I've chosen for the living room. I like the raw industrial feel, still they have a classic design which is easy to incorporate with the rest of the decor.

Newport must be my favourite store in Sweden. This tripod lamp is one of the lamps I like the most. Actually, to be honest I've really fallen for most things on three legs (no pun intended), especially floor lamps.

This is a slightly more expensive lamp than the one above, but with a little more edge. If I don't consider the price this is the lamp of my choise for the room. However, I think I prefer it in copper and brown instead of black and chrome...

We've already got a loveseat, but since I can't show you a picture of it I thought I'd show you a similar model. It looks almost like the one with stripes above, except without the stripes and in a mocca brown color.

Lastly, I've shown this picture before. This is our sofa (even though it looks grey on the picture, it's actually more of a sand beige tone). It's really big and comfy and with a few cushions who wouldn't want to take a nap in this beauty?

Efter ett oändligt långt uppehåll på bloggfronten är jag tillbaka igen. Magkatarr och annat gjorde att jag fick lägga om fokus ett litet tag, men nu är jag alltså tillbaka och bortsett från en liten semester i några dagar i juli så lovar jag att inläggen ska bli mer frekventa.

Vädret var riktigt härligt idag, så det var bara att lapa i sig, det ser ju inte ut som om det blir något toppväder till midsommar. Har ni några härliga planer inför fredagen ändå? Vi har inte riktigt bestämt oss än, så det blir nog tillatt hitta på något spontant i sista minuten...

Oj, vilken tid det har gått mellan inläggen, en hel vecka har seglat förbi. Nu när mannen är på kurs igen, så måste man ju passa på att umgås när han är hemma. Men jag lovar, jag ska försöka bli bättre på att uppdatera bloggen...

Här är ännu ett av mina favoritföretag, Riviera Maison. Jag gillar bokstavligt talat allt som finns i deras sortiment. Det är nästan så att jag får hålla i mig så att jag inte tar mitt pick och pack flyttar till Holland bara för att kunna shoppa där varje dag. Det har en sådan lyxig, marin känsla fast fortfarande ombonat. Jag har sett att det finns en återförsäljare av RM i Smögen, så jag tänkte passa på att ta en liten romantisk utflykt dit i sommar och spana in vad de har för utbud och priser. Säkert vansinnigt dyrt, men ibland kan man ju ha tur.

Nu har jag ett rejält godissug, så det bär nog av till affären för att inhandla lite sött och sedan ta en liten myskväll med kissarna och Nip Tuck (mycket beroendeframkallande).

Helgen flög förbi i raketfart som vanligt och nu har pojkvännen dragit iväg på utbildning i Stockholm tre dagar igen. Bara jag och katterna alltså... Men på fredag lyckades jag få ledigt från jobbet och får alltså en långhelg från torsdag till söndag, yippie!!!

Under tiden muntrar jag upp mig själv med att titta på fina inredningsbilder från Pottery Barn och fantiserar om att mitt hem självklart kommer att bli minst lika fint :). Av någon anledning har jag en mystisk dragning till koffertar och de här var ursnygga! Kan någon förklara varför denna härliga kedja inte har valt att etablera sig i Sverige? Jag vet att jag inte är ensam om att gilla deras produkter. En ynka liten butik skulle räcka, eller vad säger ni?

Älsklingen hemma

Efter ett par ensamma dagar då min sambo var på kurs i Stockholm inför starten på sitt nya jobb, så är han äntligen hemma igen. Han kommer att åka iväg på måndag igen och kommer då hem på onsdag kväll, så nu gör vi det mesta av helgen.

Underbara taklampor

Ralph Lauren/ Pedlars

Jag tycks inte klara av att hålla mig borta från bloggen idag. Jag surfade runt lite på nätet och hittade dessa fina taklampor från Pedlars. De kan tydligen leverera till Sverige och då blir det ju genast lite farligt. Jag saknar taklampor i de flesta rummen (de gamla vill jag inte ha upp), så jag hade inte tackat nej till dessa snyggingar.

Hunden fick vara med på ett hörn för att jag tycker att den är så söt. Jag är generellt sett inte så svag för att ta på djur kläder, men den här lilla superhjälten är en riktig cooling med sin lilla outfit från Ralph Lauren.

Äntligen helg! Det känns verkligen underbart att ta lite sovmorgon och sedan kunna långsamt masa sig upp ur sängen och ta en mysig långfrukost. Semestern börjar bli hett efterlängtad. Helgerna är så sköna, men det känns som om de alltid försvinner innan man ens hunnit blinka. Nu när sommaren börjar närma sig så vill jag bara fixa lite picknick, ta med lite glossiga magasin och sätta mig i närheten av vattnet och njuta.

Precis som många andra är Ralph Lauren en favorit när det gäller inredning och de här rummen ligger definitivt i min smak.Personligt, varmt och en känsla av semester, kan det bli bättre?

Sängproblem

Imorgon kommer den fina sängen vi har väntat på från Mio, som jag har väntat. Att endast sova på bäddmadrass i en månads tid har varit lite hårt och obekvämt. Då kom kallduschen... Strax efter att de ringde från Mio och berättade att de kommer med sänggaveln, så ringde telefonen en gång till. Den här gången ringde de för att berätta att de hade tagit fel resårbottnar och att det skulle ta ca tre veckor att leverera nya. Grrr, surt sa räven.

Alltså, what to do? IKEA har säkert några bra madrasser tänkte jag. Men när vi kom dit så hade de haft utförsäljning på madrassortimentet och hade inga kvar i rätt storlek (förutom de absolut dyraste). Hmmm, inte kul.

Ja, nu får vi nog ligga på golvet några veckor till innan vi kan få madrasser. Pust...

Underbara New England

Som många andra, så är jag praktiskt taget frälst i det som kallas New England-stilen. Här ovan ser ni fina bilder från Eichholtz som tillverkar underbara möbler och diverse föremål i den stilen. De är bland annat leverantör åt Newport som jag älskar och den utländska sidan Global village. Tyvärr kan man inte längre som privatperson se deras katalog på nätet, men de här bilderna kan man i alla fall njuta av, eller vad säger ni?

Sovrum

I väntan på att sängen ska anlända, så att vi har lite mer att sova på än enbart bäddmadrasser, så försöker jag att hitta inspiration till hur känslan jag vill ha i sovrummets inredning. Jag gillar verkligen de olika bilderna ovan, där jag tycker att de har fått till helheten på ett bra sätt. Sedan är det klart att man har lite olika förutsättningar, sovrummet med tegelvägg är verkligen snyggt, men utan tegelvägg blir det ju inte samma impact...

Jag är lite inne på att köra marint tema i sovrummet, med blå och vita nyanser och sedan kanske lägga på lite brunt så att det inte blir för feminint. Jag vill ju att min kille ska trivas där lika bra som jag. Ja, ni lär ju märka vad jag bestämmer mig för. När allt är klart kommer det självklart ut lite fina foton tagna av amatörfotografen herself.

Efter en lång arbetsdag är det alltid kul att kunna utnyttja sin fritid på bästa sätt. Vad skulle då kunna vara bättre än att ta sig en runda i diverse butiker och shoppa loss på inredning? Det är någonting i alla fall jag alltid blir glad av. Idag blev det de här fina stolarna som införskaffades till köket och tidigare i veckan har vi också beställt hem sängen på bilden ovan och den fina Howardsoffan. Jag är så nöjd med alla inköp att jag inte kan vänta på att de ska komma hem. För att inte tala om hur otroligt beroendeframkallande shoppingen är. I dagsläget hade jag utan svårigheter kunnat dra med mig en halv butik hem och helst då Newport. Tyvärr begränsas man lite av ekonomin på det planet, men vem vet vad som lurar i framtiden.

En ny blogg föds

Efter att länge ha varit en trogen läsare av inredningsbloggar, började det kittla i fingrarna att dra igång en egen. Jag har ett brinnande intresse för inredning och hoppas att här kunna inspirera, dela idéer och få kontakt med personer som delar mitt passionerade intresse.

Eftersom min kamera än så länge är urladdad, så får ni hålla till godo med de härliga bilderna från American Furnishings. Oj, oj, oj vad det där soffbordet är läckert. Tänk om det hade funnits i Sverige... Om någon känner till någon svensk återförsäljare av snygga industriella möbler och diverse prylar, så tas tips tacksamt emot.
